At last I got my Year of the Dragon illustration finished…
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!
Have an aweseome and fullfilling year, have a blast doing whatever it is you desire to do
龍年吉祥 新年快樂 萬事如意 身體健康 心想事成!!
Side note about the creation process:
Am I glad that I scanned a copy of this hand drawn picture to the pc when it was just an outline..! For when I used Letraset alcoholic markers to colour my illustration in with, I made a mistake with colouring in one of the people.. the chinese dragon was coloured in with markers and that turned out great, but something went irreversibly wrong with the girl in pink jacket’s face.. This picture would’ve been doomed if I hadn’t digitized the picture before I started the colour work!
Thanks again to the wonderful invention of computers, software, and scanners.. these are life savers for many artists when they mistakenly ruined their hand made work! I solved it by scanning the half done, ruined picture into photoshop and then imposing that over the good back-up picture I prepared earlier, once I rubbed out the mistake parts to show the good picture catastrophe was averted and I was good to carry on with colouring in my picture digitally.
The finished illustration is what you see above with the dragon being done by hand with colour markers and figures and background coloured in digitally using photoshop. I hope you’ll like my take on drawing a chinese dragon, I for one am very proud of my efforts, I made the dragon extra long for longevity and prosperity..! perfect right?

Always make digital backups of your hand drawn artwork
