Finished painting the design of my character Heather~

Heather profile posesI previously posted the black and white outline picture here where I went into more background behind the creation of the character. As you can see I’ve finally gotten around to finish the design of Heather by adding beautiful colours to her figure and clothes, thereby giving her personality and appearance alot more depth.

All colour work and the background was done in Photoshop with a wacom Intuos3 pen tablet. Hope you like her name and the way I’ve made her look – do you find her cute and adorable?

My name is Bernard Au. I’m an illustrator and manga artist, specializing in manga style character design. I’m currently working on a story for a personal manga of mine, and Heather is a possible character that I hope to include in my story. I complete my drawings using traditional methods of pencil sketching (2H and H grade pencils are usually all I need) and then using technical fine liner ink pens to go over my lines. Once the drawing is complete I can start painting it, but first here I always scan the picture into my computer to keep a digital copy for reference. Now I have the choice of painting it in Photoshop using my graphics tablet, or I can paint it by hand with Letraset colour promarkers.

If you like the illustration I’ve posted here today and you think my style is what your studio is looking for, please don’t hesitate to drop me an email if you have a work opportunity and project that you think would suit me to work on. I’d very much like to network with like-minded publishers, writers and artists that share my passions of manga and storytelling.

That’s all for today, appreciate you visiting my site and my posts – hope you enjoyed my illustration of today, and if want to talk to me about the art, feel free to leave me a comment below! Please follow this blog and do continue to pop back every now and then to say hi~ appreciate the support and connection!

Warm Regards,

About Way of the Artchemist

Love of manga/anime, telling of stories in film and tv around sci-fi and fantasy, has influenced me to draw in the way that I do and, it's these interests that led me to the alternative media and made me question the nature of reality; exploring the ideas around consciousness, and the philosophies of life.
